Pakistan
has some of the lowest social indicators in the region chronically
poor by world standards.
Rural communities are especially deprived. Demographic restraints
severely limit economic opportunities and limit their ability
to access social services.
When National IPM Program initiated IPM activities in Bahawalpur
(Punjab) in 2002 with the establishment of six FFS (Farmer
Field Schools) and training of 125 farmers. After FFS trained
21 hardworking & devoted farmers joined in shape of
making farmer's organizations so that farmers in future
may work independently on self help basis and as a result
of these efforts the KWA became into existence in 2003.
It was registered in 2004.
Reducing poverty and accelerating the pace of social development
are the most important long-term goals under strategy of
KWA. Especially capacity building of Framer communities
through Farmer Technical Meetings, Farmer Strategic Planning
and Farmer Policy Making, Research and Decision Making so
that farmer may able to take right decision at right time.
In the health sector, the strategy prioritizes improving
Health & Hygiene issues.
First believes in the people's ability to Learn & Manage
their own affairs and Second guiding principle is Self-reliance
& Empowerment.
